Fort Lewis, Washington
LEED Project

The Ft. Lewis FY 07 Brigade Complex projects consist of three projects—the Headquarters Building (BN HQ), the Barracks (UEPH), and the RSU Building. The new Headquarters is a 2-story, 17,477-square foot office/classroom office building. The Barracks project is also new construction. This facility is 219,600-square foot of condo-style military housing, constructed on three floors and in a U-shaped facility with approximately 306 housing units and associated common spaces. The RSU project is a 1,192 square foot addition to an existing single story 1,700-square foot computer data center. All of these buildings are located on the Ft. Lewis Army Base in Ft. Lewis, Washington.

The Headquarters and Barracks buildings were submitted for LEED accreditation and Engineering Economics, Inc. (EEI) was selected to provide LEED documentation for Energy and Atmosphere Prerequisite 1 – Fundamental Building Commissioning and Energy and Atmosphere Credit 3 – Enhanced Commissioning.

EEI’s services included the commissioning of all energy-using equipment associated with the Headquarters and Barracks buildings, and the new equipment being added to the RSU building. The mechanical and electrical system features were functionally tested; including HVAC, lighting control, domestic hot water central plant and electrical distribution.
