LEED® Gold ProjectProvidence Newberg Medical Center

EEI Healthcare was selected to provide commissioning services for this new 145,000-SF hospital and neighboring 37,000-SF medical office building.  Our scope of work included the review of Design and Construction Documents and the commissioning of the mechanical, electrical, life safety and medical gas systems.  EEI also facilitated the assumption of building controls and fire alarm responsibilities by owner staff who were new to the facility, extending our relationship with this impressive client.

The project received U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC’s) LEED Gold rating and embodies Providence's commitment to life-cycle consideration of facility value.  Using an industry standard of a 5-year simple payback to justify additional design and procurement costs, Providence Newberg completed its payback in 14 months.  During the first year of operation, the projected energy savings were 26% in reduced energy costs – savings that were used for holding the line on costs of care, equipment, programs, charity care and more.
